Zebra Plant – Aphelandra squarrosa 🦓🌿

Aphelandra squarrosa, or Zebra Plant, is a tropical stunner prized for its deep green leaves with bold white veins, resembling zebra stripes. In the right conditions, it can also produce bright yellow cone-like flower bracts, adding a burst of colour to its already dramatic foliage.

Care Instructions:

• Light: Prefers bright, indirect light – too much sun can scorch the leaves

• Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, but not soggy – never let it fully dry out

• Humidity: Requires high humidity – mist regularly or place on a pebble tray

• Soil: Use a light, well-draining mix with good organic content

• Feeding: Feed every 2–3 weeks during spring and summer with a high-phosphorus fertiliser to encourage blooming

• Temperature: Keep warm – ideally 18–24°C, and protect from drafts

🌿 Tip: This plant can be fussy about dry air – placing it near a humidifier or in a steamy bathroom works wonders.
