Hoya compacta ‘Variegata’ – Twisting Wax Plant Beauty 🌿🪷
Hoya compacta ‘Variegata’ is a stunning trailing houseplant with thick, twisted, rope-like leaves edged in creamy white or pale yellow variegation. The dramatic foliage is not only sculptural, but also produces clusters of star-shaped, fragrant pink flowers when mature. It’s a slow grower but a true showstopper, perfect for hanging baskets or cascading from shelves.
Key Features:
✔ Eye-catching curled foliage with cream and green variegation
✔ Produces clusters of fragrant, waxy pink flowers
✔ Slow-growing but extremely rewarding
✔ Ideal for hanging pots, macramé displays, or trailing shelves
✔ Drought-tolerant and easy to care for once established
Care Instructions:
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light – some gentle sun will enhance variegation
Watering: Allow soil to dry out between waterings – avoid soggy roots
Humidity: Tolerates typical home humidity – benefits from occasional misting
Soil: Use a free-draining, airy mix (e.g. orchid bark + perlite + potting soil)
Feeding: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertiliser
Temperature: Thrives in 18–26°C – protect from drafts and cold
Growth: Slow-growing – can eventually trail 60cm+ with time and care
🌿 Tip: Keep it slightly rootbound for best flowering and avoid moving it while buds are forming.
