Alocasia portei, sometimes called Alocasia ‘Malaysian Monster’, is a dramatic, large-leaved aroid prized for its deeply serrated, ruffled foliage that rises elegantly on tall, sturdy stems. Native to Southeast Asia, this plant can reach impressive heights indoors, making it perfect as a statement piece in bright interiors or warm greenhouses.

• Soil: Use a well-draining, chunky aroid mix (bark, perlite, coco coir)

• Feeding: Fertilise every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced houseplant feed

• Temperature: Likes it warm – 18–28°C. Keep out of cold drafts

• Growth: Fast-growing in the growing season – may go semi-dormant in winter, with slower growth
