- Pot size - 5.5cm
Delosperma echinatum, nicknamed the Pickle Plant, is a quirky succulent with fuzzy, pickle-shaped leaves covered in tiny, soft hairs. Native to South Africa, it’s a compact and fast-growing succulent that adds texture and charm to windowsills, succulent trays, or quirky plant collections.
Key Features:
✔ Unique plump green leaves with soft bristles – like mini gherkins!
✔ Grows as a sprawling or trailing succulent
✔ Can produce small yellow blooms in bright light
✔ Easy to grow – great for beginners and collectors
✔ Perfect for sunny shelves, succulent pots, or hanging baskets
Care Instructions:
-
Light: Loves bright, indirect to direct sunlight – the more light, the better
-
Watering: Let soil fully dry between waterings – very drought-tolerant
-
Soil: Use a gritty, well-draining cactus/succulent mix
-
Feeding: Feed lightly in spring and summer with a cactus fertiliser every 4–6 weeks
-
Temperature: Keep above 10°C – protect from frost
-
Growth Habit: Can trail or mound – trim back if it gets leggy
🌿 Tip: Avoid overwatering – it stores moisture in its leaves and prefers to stay on the dry side.
