Blue Star Fern (Phlebodium aureum)

The Blue Star Fern is a unique and easy-care fern known for its soft, wavy, blue-green fronds. Unlike many ferns, it is more tolerant of drier conditions and makes an excellent houseplant for those looking for a low-maintenance yet striking foliage plant.

Care Guide:

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch its delicate fronds.

Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top layer of soil starts to dry out. Use filtered or rainwater if possible, as Phlebodium is sensitive to hard tap water.

Humidity: Thrives in high humidity (50%+). Ideal for bathrooms or kitchens, but if placed elsewhere, misting or a humidifier can help.

Temperature: Grows best in 16–25°C. Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C.

Soil & Feeding: Use a well-draining, airy mix (orchid bark, peat, and perlite work well). Feed with a diluted liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer.

General Tips: Unlike many ferns, the Blue Star Fern has a rhizome-based root system, so it prefers being slightly root-bound and does well in a shallow pot.
